APPLICATION OF BODY-ORIENTED THERAPY IN WATER IN THE STYLE OF ART THERAPY FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

The article is devoted to researching the effectiveness of body-oriented therapy in water, combined with elements of art therapy, for working with children with special educational needs (autistic spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). The purpose of the article is to highlight the theoretical and empirical foundations of the combination of aquatherapy and art-therapy, to present methodical approaches to implementation and to reveal the prospects for its use in Ukraine. Based on the analysis of international and domestic research, the psychophysiological mechanisms of the influence of the aquatic environment on the development of motor skills, sensory integration and emotional regulation of children are considered. It is argued that water as a polysensory environment creates optimal conditions for neuroplasticity, development of control over one’s own body and creative self-expression. Culturally adapted aquatic art therapy programs are of particular importance for children with post-traumatic stress in the context of the military conflict in Ukraine. An interdisciplinary approach to the organization and implementation of water art therapy is proposed, which involves the cooperation of psychologists, physiotherapists, art therapists and teachers. On a practical level, the combination of movement therapy in water with elements of art therapy can become an important component of comprehensive support for children with special educational needs, as it combines movement activity and creativity, which positively affects their overall development. The water environment provides safe conditions for movements that may be difficult in other circumstances, and the elements of art therapy contribute to emotional expression and reduce the level of anxiety. This approach makes it possible to adapt interventions to the individual needs and potential capabilities of children, stimulating not only physical, but also psychological resources. Taking into account the socio-cultural features and the context of the military conflict, movement therapy in water with elements of art therapy can also act as a means of strengthening psychological stability and developing skills to overcome stressful situations. Therefore, the prospects for further research and application of this approach in rehabilitation, inclusive and educational directions are defined.
